Fire Is Still Hot

After killing Freya on hardmode and even an Old-God and his halfsharkhalfalligatorman bodyguard there was only one thing standing between us and eternal fa… errr our Ironbound Proto-Drakes.

Unaware to us however was that pushing the red button causes mass hysteria in nearby gnomes, enraging them and causing them to hasten up their testing. Unaware to said gnome, high-pitched voices cause an enrage in Tauren Bulls as well and leads to an increased desire for gnome-punting.

It took a bit of time (18 pulls to be exact) but once we learned to avoid Shock Blasts/Mines/Laser Barrages/Frostbombs/Rockets without standing in fire this fight really wasn’t all that hard.

All in all, Firefighter must be one of the best fights I’ve done personally done in any raid instance. To quote a certain comic: “Fire is still hot and raiding is still serious business.”

After all this was over we decided to celebrate in style by roasting some Dwarves to finish the meta achievement for most of us. Now they can bask in glory whilst others wait until we have some kitties watching their mistress gets killed (Yes Quynh, you may sit that fight out).

You can download one kill movie from here (thanks Argha!) or watch another one in the embed below (thanks Jomo!):

Not-So Happy Tree Friends

Even the cumulative power of Freya, Stonebark, Ironbranch and Brightleaf wasn’t enough to stop us this time. This week’s crash course was all about AoE and how to stop it. After we figured out pretty numbers weren’t as important as keeping the little adds rooted in place this fight was a quick kill. One and a half hours of progress attempts later and we’re suddenly staring at Mimiron as the only one between us, the meta and the key to Algalon.

After setting Freya on fire it’s time to see if we can put it out again cause we’re finally going to push that damn button. Mimiron WE COME FOR YOU!

Coincidentally we, and apparently half the world killed the Faction Champions in the Argent Colliseum this week. Go us! Puny Alliance got facerolled even though they used a faceroll Eurocomp.

There Is a Light That Never Goes Out

Apparently it’s quite hard to divide 10 portals by 10 people but as soon as our melee groups figured out left from right and front from back Yogg-Saron with only Thorim assisting posed quite a little challenge. This fight is won and lost in the portal phase and as soon as we went into phase 3 with 25 people alive and sane it was a quick kill. Although in the end we had to sacrifice a Boomkin to do so, apparently they have a hard time keeping sane.

This kill was even more special because only just a few nights before Kaylani had recieved his 30th Fragment of Val’anyr and he therefore is now the proud owner of our first legendary mace. We’re currently hard at work making our second one for another priest to have more shiny bubbles in the raid.

Our Hunter Captain Jomotei made a nice video which includes some footage of happy raiders and a certain priest getting a certain something.

Halfsharkaligatorhalfman

Actually I’m not sure that’s a good description of him. According to some lore he might even be one of these guys.

Regardless, in his present form General Vezax didn’t pose much of a challenge to beat on hardmode. It took two hours or so to clear his trash and let our ranged DPS have some quality time with Shadow Crashes and for our Rogues to go through a fast Focus Kick Macros And You 101 course. First try with no fails and he was dead.

With hard modes opening up for the new raid instance soon we’re hopeful we can complete the metaachievement and unlock Algalon before that. Hope to have some more good news soon :)
